Cuteness overload

Our next addition is Snoopy.Cutey pie and some. He loves David and gets on with the hell hounds. Melissa still needs to warm to him, but Willy plays with him all the time. Looney Lucy will put up with him. Yet another mouth to feed and kitty to be fixed. Work at Carrier Mills is going well. Most residents enjoy my cooking. I am over summer, but have used the pool a lot this year. Still waiting to win lotto!!!!

Wally Marty, the kitten with two names.

Sad start to June with the loss of Wally Marty, our baby cat. He was our latest addition. Simon, my nephew, had found him as a fluffy kitten at Walmart while Simon was staying with us. He was hit by a car last week and passed away. We thank the lovely person who stopped, wrapped him on a tshirt and placed him off the road. He now has his own little memorial spot in our yard. RIP baby boy. On a better note, the pool is open and I have already been in once. It will be vacuumed tomorrow so that I can cool off now summer is here. I do not like Southern Illinois summers, humidity sucks! Thankfully with the pool and air conditioning I survive. ;) Work is going well, I enjoy the hob and the people I work with. Now I have settled in a little, it can be as hard as cleaning is, or go as smoothly as silk. My first cookout was horrendous, but thankfully we only have a few a year. I so enjoy the lovely residents and staff at Carrier Mills, we all for the most part get on well, and I love the banter some of our cheekier residents have. Looking forward to a better year all round. My health has been good, with only aches and pains and an ear infection to hassle me so far. :)

Me? A cook?

Well I start as COOK at Carrier Mills on Wednesday! I am nervous as I haven't cooked in bulk since Coolgardie days. I am sure it will be fine but I think I will miss the cleaning. I had it down to a schedule, sort of. I still don't have my deck organised and the pool still has the cover on. Too many hours working, so few to do what needs doing.

New Job is hard work.

Hello all, I have started my new job at Carrier Mills Nursing Home this week. I am in the housekeeping department but we also help with mealtimes. It was physically demanding on my poor body and I was exhausted every night and in bed by 8pm. That is so unlike me as I am a night owl. I would get home, shower, eat and doze off in the chair! 5.30am starts will be hard to get used to, but I will eventually. I do like the job, the people I work with are nice and I know the boss/owner. So the fur babies will have only Daddy during the days. I also have 2 houses to do on days off so I will be worn out for a while. I am hoping to have enough energy to make a little garden on my deck to keep mozzies away though. I want to be able to sit out there in the evenings. I was attacked last year so lavender, catnip, lemon balm and basil will be planted if I get the time.

Round and Round we go

Well Spring is here and everything is wet and starting to bud. Still looking a bit grungy, but I am slowly pruning and will start planting when I get another job. I lost the job at Walmart as I had been so sick all last year and had too much time off. So I am back on the job market as at February this year. So far I have applied for approximately 8 jobs, and have completed 2 assessments, so it is now a waiting game. I will keep applying and hopefully it won't be long until I am back at it. The animal menagerie is doing well, lots of wiping muddy paws and wet fur as they come indoors. David is again hoping to put his play on in the spring, so we will cross our paws and fingers.

January Snow Fun

LMAO David got this today! Simon Slimmo Beaton

Good grief that year went very fast. Our furkids have seen snow and experienced their first freezing weather, except Eisha, who has lived here before, and Furby, who is a native. They loved it. Wally the kitten absolutely loves the ice rink that is our pool cover. He figured out that he can run and pounce and slide on ice! I am still working at Walmart as a cashier and cleaning once every two weeks. Since Thanksgiving, Walmart has been non stop flat out! It has calmed down a little for now. My health is okay, had the flu recently, but my immune system is stronger and I am working on that. David has been great, he does 90% of the housework and looks after all the fur babies for me. Eisha has lost weight and has old dog Alzheimer's we think. She will stand in the lounge just staring into space. Her appetite is still good!
