November 2010
Hi all, well, it's been a while since my last blog. My plum tree is having a bumper crop and the doglets and kitty and Collie cocky are all well and noisy. My Dad has been very ill, his cancer has spread to his bones, and he is in pain most of the time. We are all helping to keep his spirits up. I am off to Manila in January to have major dental work done. It is 1/3 of the cost over there, so I am hoping to come back with a new smile and not a huge bill. I have christmas about wrapped up gift wise, and am looking forward to holidays over the chrissy period. I am trying to clean the yard up and have planted some tomatoes to try to see what the ground will do. Sand does not bode well with veggies unfortunately. Also, with the water restrictions, I have to be careful what I plant.

June and it's winter
Lovely lovely winter. Cold, wet and time to snuggle up in front of the fire with hubby and furbabies. Doggies are thoroughly enjoying getting muddy and then walking through the house! Lissa cat has decided it's good to sleep indoors at night now. :)
Collie the cocky is getting more aggressive and has made himself a part of the family. He was named Sam initially but keeps saying Collie so we've adopted that name now. He's nuts like the other animals so fits in well. His newest trick is "holding" hands while he dances. He sticks one claw out and holds onto your finger. He is telling the dogs to "kay, shut up" when they bark and hisses at Lissa cat if she gets too friendly. Must be time for hot chocolate. :)

April Showers?
Well it was still March officially! We had a huge storm with golf ball size hail and 100km/h winds. Had a river running through the backyard! We lost power for 34 hours but came out ok. No major damage, a few branches down. Some people lost rooms and an apartment block at Kings Park had a mudslide. No injuries thankfully.
Now April is here, it's time to plant my new plants and hope they will grow. Apple trees have developed leaf curl, but I will get some Copper Sulphate before budding starts. Looking at going back to work on the mines so I am applying now. :)

Baby Dugites bite
Well, it was an exiting day yesterday. I was trying to save my cat Lissa from being bitten by the baby dugite she was playing with. Hero mum snatched the little 10 inch snake, intending on throwing it into the road, when baby snake latched onto my finger. It was thrown, but back in my garden! Spent 5 mins looking for it, felt a tingling in my finger, so I went and called poisons info line. Wrapped the finger, then all the way to the shoulder and off to the emergency room. (I didn't think it was worth all that ...the thing hardly has giant fangs, and I have thick skin). Spent 5 hours at the emergency room, it took 5 tries to get a drip in my viens to take blood, I think they had shrunk due to my phobia of needles. 5 tries at putting a drip needle in didn't help that situation! They took 2 lots of blood tests over the 5 hours to check blood clotting and sent me home. What a waste of a sunday :(
Now it is Monday, I have a headache and sciatica pain. Oh dear...

The new year
Well, we are on a diet! I have gain over 15kgs over the last year or so so it's time to lose it. I have cut down on sugar and cut out fat. I eat cereal and fruits and veggies mostly with some cold chicken or lean meat every second day or so. I also bought a "safe cig" to help me stop smoking. I've had it 2 days and had a total of 4 cigs over those 2 days. That's brilliant for me! Going to Albany with my Mum on Tuesday for 5 days, so the diet may go a little over the edge, but will also be exercising more :) (pool at hotel). So a new outlook for this new year.....
