Already home and sick

I have Covid, first time and it is awful. I have no idea where I got it from, as I have only been near David and Mr R. I get to see the GI doc in February, it's about time. Stomach cramps are killing me with the drugs I am taking for Covid. Dogs are okay, Furby and Dinky are old now and Dinky is deaf. We have a new cat that is an outdoor girl and we think pregnant. Incredibly hard beginning of 2023.

Christmas at the Wollesens

Hello all, I am still fighting with my body, this Crohn's is kicking my butt. Other than that, we are doing okay. I am working two nights a week with my lovely 100 year old Mr R. When I got home in September, the poor doggies were a mess. I had to shave both Furby and Dinky and all the dogs had flea baths and all 6 pets had flea treatments. Took two weeks to get them free. Furby and Rusty have doggy dandruff, so we are on green lip mussells and fish oil to help with that and achy bits for the old doggies. David is doing well and enjoying having me home. We have a new porch and have fixed a few small issues. The insurance for my trip has started paying my claim. It is Christmas eve and I am thinking of my wonderful family enjoying Christmas Day together down under. I am also thinking of Craig and Dad and missing them, as we all miss our loved ones at the holidays.

Winter down under

Hello all. Well, got down under the end of June. Had lovely visits with family, them wham! I ended up in hospital with a stricture (from Crohn's). I had to have a major bowel resection here in Oz. I am now healing, but will not get back to David until the end of September. Turned out to be a long and painful holiday. Thank goodness for travel insurance! Hoping to go into a very long remission in the near future. Worried about my fur kids, but David is being a good Daddy. <3

Well it has been a long time between posts. I have been caring for a lovely 99 year old and feeding a few community cats, plus our menagerie. We lost Max this week, our oldest boy at 16. He went outside to poop, had a siezure, was in the 100f heat for a while and had a stroke. I cooled him down and gave him meds. He stayed peaceful until the next day and had two more big siezures. We decided it was time. He will join Melissa, Willy cat, Eisha, Buddy and Wally in the back yard when we spread his ashes next week. I haven't had time to grieve working 56 hours a week and planning a trip home starting next Friday. So today, almost 6 days later, it hit me hard and I bawled my eyes out. I go home for 5 weeks next week, I am in dire need of emotional nurturing and physical rest. I hope with all my heart that my husband, pets and the family I work for stay safe while I am away, and that Lucy does not go missing again. Love Jackie

2021 is half over, what a ride

I can't believe it has been almost two years since I blogged! We started 2020 with the COVID, and personally we had a pretty good year, apart from the lockdowns etc. I still worked, caring for a 98 year old man in his home. We lost our darling Lissa during 2020 though. She was 15 and got so sick. She was cremated and we spread her ashes over the other babies graves. At the end of 2020 we welcomed Russell (Rusty) to the clan. We also ended up with snowflake the black cat. No idea where he came from, but he has fit in nicely. I have not had an easy time worrying about my family and Mum. I still can not travel home to Australia as the Delta strain of Covid has restricted travel again. Onwards and upwards.

Baby Buddy Buggy Bumper

Our baby Buddy passed away. He was only 12 years old. Poor boy had to deal with arthritis all his life, then he gets tumors on his butt. He had a fall and daddy landed on him after tripping over Furby. Buddy could not walk, so David took him to the vet. They did an xray, nothing broken and said it was a torn ligament. The vet gave him Tramadol. Buddy did not get up again. We don't know if it was the drug or an internal issue, but he had a seizure and passed away. I tried cpr for a short while, but he was gone. With broken hearts, we buried him next to Eisha. My heart is healing but another small piece is gone forever.

Wow, the year is half gone!

This year has been quite a roller coaster health wise and immigration wise. After many months of paperwork, medicals etc, we have the final immigration interview in September. Keep everything crossed! My health has been crap as usual.I have now been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, another one to add to the pile. The dogs have also had a rough year. We lost Willy cat about a month ago to a mauling by two dogs. I imagine he went to make friends and the mongrels attacked. Poor baby had a broken neck and back. He is now buried beneath our deck, where he played most. Buddy has peri-anal tumors, but they are non cancerous so we can only monitor them. Dinky and Max have both suffered from flea allergies and we have tried everything. Furby is just nuts. Snoopy, Lucy and Looney cats have all been okay, and for the most part, the year has been steady. Hoping for a better second half for sure!!
